Stevenson Memorial Hospital celebrated yet another landmark occasion this week as the first meeting of the hospital’s advisory members was held.
During the course of the meeting between hospital membership card holders and the board of the directors a special presentation was made. Lifetime Alliston resident John Lewis was made an honorary advisory member in recognition of his long standing membership in the SMH Corporation, his years serving on the board of directors and his support of the hospital.
SMH board chair, Dr. Ted Vandevis, made the presentation.
Over 60 people attended the meeting Monday night at the New Tecumseth Recreation Complex. Of that, 44 were people who were not staff, Auxiliary or Foundation members.
A question and answer period at the end of the meeting was well received. The board plans to have at least two Advisory Membership meetings each year and will engage the membership in other ways.
On Monday, they participated in a vision and mission session, giving feedback, both verbal and written, on a new vision and mission for the hospital.
They were also asked their opinion on integration, a new hospital and what the current administration is doing well and what they can do to improve.
